A uniquely Appalachian funeral tradition
My family used to make coffin quilts, but sadly, all the quilters (except me) have passed on. It seems that the tradition carries on today in purchasing throws from florists for display at viewings.
Oh wow! So few quilters are familiar with these now. Do you still have any of them? What a treasure if you do!
I have only one! It’s an odd mix of polyester fabrics that I’m told were repurposed from clothing!
